CONCRETE TECHNOLOGY EXPANDS IN ILLINOIS
Concrete Technology, Inc. of Springboro, Ohio, has recently opened a new manufacturing facility in Paxton Illlinois, adjacent to Interstate 57 and approximately 100 miles south of Chicago's loop. Jim Beurhle, who is a veteran of the architectural precast industry is managing this facility.
Over the years, Spillman Company has had numerous opportunities to provide a variety of architectural steel formwork and sub-assemblies for Concrete Technology at the Springboro facility. For Paxton, Spillman furnished ten aggregate bins as a supplier to the batch plant manufacturer and delivered a series of steel sub-frames for their architectural casting tables. In the initial order, sub-frames furnished were assembled to produce a 28' x 130' table. This equipment was all furnished and installed in mid-1999.
During the first few weeks of 2000, we furnished two more tables that are 18' x 110'. In addition we had an opportunity to design and fabricate two "stressing bucks" which were installed at Paxton to allow for the manufacture of prestressed architectural panels and spandrels. Each buck measured 28'2" long x 8' deep x 3' wide and weighed a total of 24,500#. The bucks were designed to resist an axial load of 2,480 kips when applied concentrically over a center of gravity of 17". These devices are among the largest we have ever produced and provide further evidence of our continuing commitment to develop custom steel forming solutions for our customers in the precast/prestressed concrete industry.

SAVE TIME AND MONEY WITH GLUE
Spillman is pleased to offer the PAM Spray "Hot" Glue system, which allows precasters and prestressers the opportunity to improve productivity and reduce costs by gluing blockouts, inbeds, and inserts into place instead of drilling their forms and fastening them in a conventional manner. Two different guns are available - the PAM 500 that is an economy model that applies a continuous bead of glue and is best suited to gluing metal to metal; and the PAM 600S that is a deluxe applicator capable of infinite settings from continuous bead to fine spray and can be used to apply wood, plastic, rubber, metal, or foam. STILL DRILLING AND WELDING ON STEEL FORMS?
Spillman has been offering the EZY-STRYP® magnetic clamping system for the precast/prestressed concrete industry for longer than anyone else in the North American market. Our system uses a variety of specially designed and manufactured magnetic devices from Weckenmann in Germany. They can be adapted for use with existing or new steel tables, side rails, bulkheads, and blockouts. Our large in-stock inventory includes regular, low profile, and short bar magnets, "U" fixer magnets for positioning steel rails, magnet adapters for use with steel and wood side rails and bulkheads, and standard steel shutter rails from 2" - 8" deep.
In addition, Spillman has manufactured a wide range of custom steel side rails and bulkheads that incorporate magnets as the hold down device and eliminate the need to drill and weld on steel forms.
